Welcome to the 76^th Israel Chemical Society Conference

Dear Colleagues,
The Israel Chemical Society (ICS) will hold its 76^th annual meeting at the David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv on February 9-10, 2011. Marking the International Year of Chemistry (IYC2011), the ICS meeting will be one of the major scientific events of the Israeli Science, bringing together researchers from academia, chemical education, R&D and industry interested in the multiple aspects of the chemical structure and dynamics of molecules and materials. This year, both Department of Chemistry and Institute of Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials at Bar-Ilan University join forces and capacities to organize such an important and attractive annual meeting.
This year we are proud to host a delegation of world-renowned scientists from Academia Sinica of Taiwan who will represent the strong Taiwanese science. The upcoming Taiwanese delegation, as well as the Japanese delegation we hosted last year, reflect the rapidly growing importance of Asia on the world map of science and technology. The arrival of this respected delegation will further enhance the already strong ties between the scientific communities of Taiwan and Israel. The following members of Academia Sinica will deliver plenary and Keynote lectures:

The meeting will encompass all facets of modern, interdisciplinary chemical research in 8 plenary lectures, 18 symposia and 2 poster sessions. Specific sessions will be dedicated to Organic Chemistry, Structural Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Computational Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry, Biomaterials, Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials (two sessions), Renewable and Alternative Sources of Energy, Energy Storage, Water Technology, Spectroscopy, Molecular Electronics and Magnetism, and Chemical Education. These topical sessions will include invited keynote and contributed lectures as well as 1-2 oral presentations that will be selected from the submitted abstracts.

Combined with the 14th ISRANALYTICA 2011 meeting of the Israel Analytical Chemistry Society (same venue, February 7th-8th, 2011), the two consecutive scientific meetings will offer a unique synergistic opportunity to celebrate a chemistry week (February 7th-10th, 2011). This 4-day event, which will include the largest ever exhibition of scientific equipment and instrumentation, will highlight the scientific and societal impacts of the chemical sciences, re-enforcing the public awareness and appreciation of the chemical sciences in the context of the IYC2011.
